Versatile Civil Works (VCW) is a family-owned and operated business based in Safety Bay, WA. Established under a family trust in September 2016, VCW is led by Sarah and Brett Heckingbottom, who bring over 20 years of industry experience.
VCW was founded out of a passion for safety and family, recognising a skills gap in drainage
and cable laying, where many projects did not meet industry standards. We take pride in our
high-quality workmanship, ensuring projects are completed correctly, safely, and to plan.

Sarah Heckingbottom – Contract Administrator
With 18 years of experience in earthworks, civil construction, and the oil and gas industries, Sarah specialises in contract administration, compliance, and project management. Her expertise ensures projects run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry regulations.
Brett Heckingbottom – Director & Civil Specialist
With 20 years of hands-on experience as a drainer, cable layer, machine operator, and
civil labourer, Brett has built a stellar reputation in the industry. His expertise covers all aspects of underground services, including:
✔ Sewer, drainage, and water infrastructure
✔ Gas, electricity, and telecoms installation
✔ Telstra/NBN projects (rod and rope, pit installation, and upgrades)
✔ Surface reinstatement (grass, paving, and concrete)
